Snoozing Beauty (part 4)

The prince hacks through the magical brambles from the back of his mighty steed, through which somehow the horse’s face, legs, and underside, along with any other part out of arm reach, avoid being stripped of flesh. They emerge from the thicket as the scorned fairy lands in front of him. She turns into her battle form–a giant fire-breathing dragon. Full of naive fearlessness and unthinking recklessness, the prince charges for the sake of his love. The dragon-fairy spews a potent inferno upon the two, throwing the prince from the horse’s back. The horse flees like there’s no tomorrow. He doesn’t like the prince nearly enough to deal with this.

The dragon-fairy advances on the puny prince as road and rubble give way to the cliff side around him. She laughs as she will finally get revenge on the ungracious king and queen that scorned her, but her laughter is halted by the insolent little man who decides it’s best to interrupt someone by stabbing them in the chest with a sword. How rude.
