RJ Hampshire Injury Update

RJ

As many of you know, the second annual Red Bull Straight Rhythm event was held this past weekend in Pomona, CA. During the first round of the lites racing, Geico Honda teammates Jordan Smith and Rj Hampshire were in the midst of a tight race when Rj’s front wheel missed a whoop and he went over the bars, knocking him unconscious for several minutes. Thanks to a post on twitter from Rj yesterday we know he is alright and in good spirits:

“@Hampshire21: I had a scary crash yesterday. Thankful to be in the shape im In. Just some bleeding in the brain and others small Thanks for the support ”

Asside from being knocked unconscious, scans revealed he has two pin point bleeds in his brain. There is no word on how long he is expected to be out but we certainly hope to see him line up for the first race of the supercross series. Being that he is a lites rider, he may opt to race the east coast series and get a few extra weeks of recovery and practice, so don’t be surprised if Rj is a championship contender alongside Jeremy Martin during the 250sx East coast Regional series.
