Apothecary (part 1)

The attack was over in seconds. The bandits vanished into the woods just as quickly as they had appeared, taking everything of value and leaving the two travelers in the mud. Simon got up and wiped the earth off of his face, angry with himself for letting those vermin overpower him like that. He went over to the wagon and looked through what they had left– one sleeping bad, a few parcels of food, a water pouch, an empty crate, and a small handful of herb bottles stamped into the dirt. They had taken everything. “I hope you blow yourselves up,” he cursed into the shadows. Hearing a splat, he whipped around, ready to defend whatever they had left. He dropped his fists when he realized the sound came from his traveling companion.
