Damsel in distress

She sat alone in the tower, thinking of ways to get out. There is not much else to do when being guarded by a dragon. Her father said it would keep her safe, that only the most suitable of husbands would be able to come save her.

Or at least that’s what she thought he said as she was being carried off from the rubble of the castle. There was a lot of confusion, and wind in the ears doesn’t make for good hearing.

But that was two years ago, and she’s watched many a knight come to try to face the beast. They all failed of course. Who in their right minds would fight a dragon? They’re the size of a mountain! Never mind the fire and claws! No, no man is a fit match for her protector. If she wanted out of here, she must take the initiative herself. But how? She tapped her lip, thinking of all the passages she knew. She actually had relative freedom to roam about the ruins it had brought her to, …
